WERA Capital: What is your Plan B as a Business Owner?
Uncertain times call for preparation. Stefan Neuss explains how business owners can build a plan B, C and D: from digitalisation to a second base abroad.
High taxes, rising government spending, inflation and global migration pressures: when Stefan Neuss, founder of WERA Capital Partners, recorded his thoughts on 1 September 2026, he described the times as uncertain. Not everything is bad, he stresses, but every business owner, from six to nine figures, should have a plan B, a plan C and a plan D.
1. Review your spending
The first step is a look at personal spending. Is another car, another watch or a bigger house really necessary? Money that is not tied up in status symbols can be used to build security.
2. Digitalise the business
A business should be run and controlled from anywhere in the world. Neuss asks owners whether they have a single dashboard that shows the key figures and daily tasks of the company at a glance. If not, this is the foundation to build first.
3. Strengthen free cash flow
The business should be optimised for the highest possible return and free cash flow. This money pays for the alternatives.
4. Create a base abroad
Neuss recommends a residence permit and a property in another country, together with a fully working company there. In an emergency, the owner can take a plane, open the laptop and carry on. Those with enough means can repeat this setup on other continents.
He links this to his German background. "Germans are always prepared," he says. If plan A fails there is plan B, and if that fails there is plan C, because the end goal is always in mind.
5. Understand crypto and alternative banking
He also advises owners to learn how crypto assets work before investing, and to consider international bank accounts with cards, so that money is not dependent on a single country.
6. Build a second, online business
Finally, owners can turn their expert knowledge into an independent online business, for example coaching, run alongside their main company.
Neuss's conclusion: there are many opportunities, but it is better to be prepared. WERA Capital Partners offers a free 15-minute private conversation to analyse an owner's situation and define first steps.
